Peel and Stick Wallpaper: Do you love it?

In 2017, the Property Brothers visited Dallas. Their advice in an interview with D Magazine was to bypass the now well known neutrals in home décor. Pops of color would be coming back on trend.

The Scott Brothers’ line of peel and stick wallpaper speaks directly to that Dallas interview. The new products showcase bold patterns. Hello Green Vines! You are a welcome sight after several years of gray home décor.

If you have done any updating to an older home the very mention of wallpaper will make you weep. Removing old wallpaper is a beast. Homeowners will do crazy things to avoid this dreaded task.

Wallpaper is making a comeback in home décor. The bright colors and vibrant patterns are a breath of fresh air. The drawback is paste on the wall or future removal in a culture where we change our décor more frequently.

Self-adhesive wallpaper has become very appealing. It’s easy to apply yourself and is not meant to be permanent. Removal should be fairly easy with no damage to walls. The Property Brothers actually recommend their peel and stick line for rental properties!

If you are not completely sold yet, haunted by memories of bygone wallpaper, let’s look at how to apply peel and stick.

Start with a clean wall. Cut your sheet of wallpaper to size. Use a level to line up evenly across the wall. Peel off the backing of your peel and stick wallpaper and apply. It’s a good tip to use a sharp edge or ruler to slide down the sheet, to help with even application and removing air pockets.

Continue across the space and you are done! How do you remove it? Pick a corner and start gently pulling. No steam or crazy mixtures involved.

It’s fun to see color and pattern coming back to home décor. Peel and stick wallpaper is definitely a DIY dream product.
